Program Overview

Part of the Tribes Strategic Plan is to bring people back to Galena, who want to live in Galena. With that being said, Louden is always looking to provide/build housing for the community. 

We applied for the Indian Housing Block Competitive Grant which would allow us to build 5-6 homes within the next 5 years. We are the recipient of the Housing Urban Development Indian Housing Block Grant, which gives us the funding for maintaining our homes, a Housing Director position, and allows us to assist income eligible families in Galena with Downpayment assistance, Rental Assistance, and Rehabilitation to homes that they own. Right now, we are gathering the resources to develop a Path to Ownership policy, so our families who are living in our homes have the option to work towards owning the home.
